SRINAGAR, FEB 15 – on the eve of International Childhood Cancer Day, the Department of Medical Oncology at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) today organized a vibrant event which included awareness programs and cultural activities. The diverse activities provided a platform to children to showcase their talents, share moments of joy, and support each other in this journey. The care-givers, parents and the patients also shared their experiences and thanked doctors at SKIMS for care and support. The event is observed every year to raise awareness on prevention and early detection of childhood cancers.
The event was chaired by Director SKIMS and EOSG Prof. Dr. Parvaiz A. Koul who expressed his admiration for the strength displayed by the children facing cancer and emphasized the hospital’s commitment to providing comprehensive care and support for pediatric oncology patients.
Dr. Farooq A. Jan, Medical Superintendent of SKIMS who was also present on the occasion commended the efforts of the Medical Oncology Department for organizing the event, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in addressing the challenges faced by children battling cancer.
Prof. Javaid Rasool, HOD Medical Oncology SKIMS & Organising chairperson of the event thanked all the participants. The organising secretaries of the event Dr. Faisal Guru presented the vote of thanks and appreciated the efforts of the administration for their constant support whereas Dr. Syed Nisar in his speech underlined the importance of early cancer detection and presented awards to the cancer survivors.
