The statements and seminars on the eve of World Wildlife day are being made by the government especially the department concerned, political parties and social workers as well. But, one can’t understand how these statements and seminars would serve a cause of preserving the wildlife for the next generations. Is it alright to issue a statement to save the wildlife? No, this is just a jugglery of words, which one makes to appease the small section of the people. It seems that no one is interested on the ground to preserve the wildlife and allow the animals to live peacefully. Some people for their vested interests have looted the forests by cutting down the trees and leaving the wildlife an open field. One fails to understand how long the people will continue to forget their responsibility with regard to preserving the wildlife. We cannot protect the wildlife species by making statements and organizing seminars. But, we need to join hands to preserve the wildlife practically. Imagination must come to an end and practicality must be implemented in this regard, which is a dire need at present. Major threats to wildlife include habitat destruction, degradation, fragmentation, overexploitation, poaching, pollution and climate change. Therefore, we must join hands to work for it and preserve the flora and fauna. The government should also come up with necessary steps in this regard so that the wildlife can exist for a longer period.
