Schools Reopen Across Kashmir Valley After Winter Vacation

SRINAGAR, MARCH 08 – – All government and private schools across the Kashmir Valley reopened on Monday after the annual winter vacation, bringing students back to classrooms after a break of more than three months.
Educational institutions in the Valley had remained closed since December as part of the winter vacation schedule announced by the School Education Department. With the gradual improvement in weather conditions, schools resumed regular academic activities across all districts.
The decision to reopen schools was taken following directions issued by Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Sunday after reviewing the overall situation in the region.
“After reviewing the ground situation, we have decided to reopen educational institutions in all districts of Kashmir from Monday,” the minister said.
Earlier, the government had ordered the temporary closure of schools and colleges across the Kashmir region to ensure the safety of students after protests erupted in parts of Jammu and Kashmir following reports about the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in joint US-Israeli strikes.
With schools reopening, parents and teachers expressed hope that the new academic session would continue smoothly without further disruptions.
Notably, the reopening marks the resumption of regular academic activities in the Valley after the winter break, which usually lasts from December to early March due to harsh weather conditions in the region.(CNS)
