Media delegation from J&K calls on the Governor of Kerala

Tiruvanatapuram, February 04 – Kerala Governor Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar today said that Kerala and Jammu & Kashmir are bound by profound spiritual and cultural connections that transcend geography and time, while interacting with a media delegation from Jammu & Kashmir at Lok Bhavan on Tuesday. Highlighting Kerala’s rich spiritual and cultural legacy, the Governor cited the historic link between the two regions through Adi Shankaracharya, the philosopher-saint born in Kerala, who is believed to have established the Sharada Peetha in Srinagar. This, he said, stands as a lasting symbol of the civilisational ties between Kerala and Kashmir.

Members of the visiting delegation lauded Kerala’s warm hospitality during their tour. They noted that the State’s cleanliness, efficient public transport system and overall civic standards left a strong impression on them.

The 14-member delegation, comprised of two officers and 12 journalists. As a gesture of goodwill, the Governor presented the members with commemorative mementoes. The delegation, in turn, honoured the Governor with a traditional Kashmiri shawl and a samovar.

The delegation was accompanied by Shri V. Palanichamy IIS, Additional Director General, Press Information Bureau, and Shri Majid Pandit, Media and Communication Officer, PIB Srinagar.

The team concluded the visit by inviting the Governor to Jammu & Kashmir.
