KARNAH, DEC 30 – A tragic road accident in the Taad area of Karnah in north Kashmir’s Kupwara claimed the lives of two children on Tuesday, while another minor was injured.
Officials said a tractor bearing registration number JK09B4871 met with an accident at Qureshi Mohalla, Taad. The tractor was driven by a local resident. During the incident, three children were hit.
The deceased were identified as Aliya Bashir, daughter of Bashir Ahmad Qureshi, aged about eight years, and Azlan Sajad, son of Sajad Ahmad Qureshi, aged about seven years. Both were residents of Taad. Another child, Shaizan Muneer, son of Muneer Ahmad, sustained injuries.
All the children were rushed to Sub District Hospital Tangdhar. Doctors declared Aliya and Azlan brought dead. Shaizan was later shifted to SDH Handwara for further treatment.
Police registered a case at Police Station Karnah. The tractor was seized and the driver was arrested. Investigation is underway to ascertain the cause of the accident.(KNS)
