On December 31 and January 1, weather conditions are expected to turn cold and cloudy, with light to moderate snowfall forecast at most places across the Zojila Kargil Zanskar regions and over higher reaches of Leh district. Officials said snowfall of up to 10 inches is possible at Zojila during this period.

On January 2, the weather is expected to remain generally cloudy, with light snowfall at isolated places, while January 3 to January 6 is likely to witness fair to partly cloudy conditions across the region.

The Meteorological Centre has issued a specific warning for December 31, stating that heavy snowfall is expected on the Zojila Drass axis.

In an advisory, authorities cautioned that there is a high risk of temporary disruption of transportation over Zojila and adjoining routes during December 31 and January 1.
