SRINAGAR, AUG 05 – The Swim N Survival Society Kashmir, in a collaborative effort with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Srinagar, successfully organized a comprehensive workshop on drowning prevention today. The event was held at the Water Sports Center Nigeen and saw participation from various units of the SDRF, swimmers, and expert members of the society.
The workshop was organized under the leadership of Shri Masroor Ahmad Mir-JKPS, Commandant of the SDRF 1st Battalion, Srinagar. The primary objective was to educate participants on the crucial skills and techniques required to prevent and respond to drowning incidents.
A highlight of the session was a detailed presentation by Riyaz Ahmad Wani, a noted expert from the society. He provided a thorough introduction to the various causes of drowning and demonstrated effective methods to rescue individuals using different floating devices, including life-saving jackets. The workshop also featured practical demonstrations of various drowning situations, providing attendees with a realistic understanding of rescue operations.
The initiative was well-received by all participants, who gained valuable knowledge and hands-on experience in water safety. The event was also attended by key office bearers of the Swim N Survival Society, including President Shakeel Ahmad Shah, Vice President Dr. Sheikh Tariq, and General Secretary Yasir Makhdoomi.
