KUPWARA, MARCH 07 – After nine days of relentless snowfall and multiple massive landslides, the vital Tangdhar-SM Hill-NC Pass-Chowkibal road has finally been reopened, thanks to the dedicated efforts of Project Beacon and the Indian Army. The clearance operation, carried out under extreme weather conditions, has brought much-needed relief to stranded travelers and locals.
The road had been blocked due to heavy snow accumulation and large slides at multiple points, severely disrupting movement in the region. However, after days of intense work, Beacon successfully restored connectivity, allowing four vehicles carrying mortal remains to reach their destinations safely. The efforts of the Indian Army and Project Beacon were widely appreciated by residents, who expressed their gratitude for ensuring smooth and secure passage.
The operation was closely monitored by Deputy Commander 104 AG 104, OC Sadhna Pass, and Beacon AEE, ensuring a swift and coordinated response to clear the road.
Local residents and commuters have lauded the tireless work of Team 109, acknowledging their perseverance in extreme weather conditions. Their efforts have once again demonstrated the dedication of the Indian Army and Beacon in ensuring the safety and mobility of people in these remote and challenging terrains.
With heavy snowfall still impacting mobility, authorities continue to monitor the situation and deploy resources to keep essential routes open. Further updates on road conditions and clearance progress will be shared as operations continue.
