SRINAGAR, JAN 15 – The Ministry of Home Affairs has approved the promotion of Amit Kumar, a 2006 batch IPS officer of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir cadre (now AGMUT cadre), to the rank of Inspector General (IG) in the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Currently serving as the DIG in the NIA, Kumar’s promotion was confirmed through an official order dated January 14, 2025. As per the order, he will assume charge as IG, with his tenure governed by the IPS Tenure Policy.
The NIA has been instructed to inform the Ministry of Home Affairs once Kumar takes charge of his new responsibilities.
