Director SKIMS Holds First Historical “Public Darbar”

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 29 – Director SKIMS & Ex-Officio Secretary to Govt. Prof. M. Ashraf Ganie held the first historical “Public Darbar” today at SKIMS auditorium where he along with Medical Superintendent SKIMS Prof. Farooq A Jan , HOD Hospital Administration Prof. Ghulam Hassan Yatoo, HOD Critical Care Prof. Mohammed Akbar Shah, Heads of various departments and heads of various Supportive Services interacted with civil society, patients, attendants and general public for redressal of their grievances and issues they are facing in the hospital. The general masses largely appreciated the initiative taken by Director SKIMS and desired that it should be continuous process and thanked administration for providing the platform where their concerns and queries are heard.
The general masses while lauding the significant improvement in patient care services in recent past also highlighted the issues pertaining to patient care services, facilities for the improvement including staff deficiency, no availability of some drugs, and some equipments.
Director SKIMS while addressing the general public termed the “Public Darbar” significant to understand the perception about SKIMS through general masses and patients who visit the SKIMS for various treatments. He expressed his gratitude to the public & media fraternity for positive feedback about the various services provided by SKIMS and while acknowledging some deficiencies in various areas he said that the administration is aware about the issues and has put up the comprehensive roadmap to the govt.and assured immediate redressal about the same. He also gave his plan about refreshing issues related to delay in appointments in some specialities, sanitation within the hospital, longer waiting time in PET Scan, MRI and other investigations. Director SKIMS instructed the HOD’s to get the feedback form on devised format filled by the patients on discharge from the hospital. Medical Superintendent SKIMS & PRO SKIMS will receive the feedback / suggestions or any grievance from the general public through emails / what’s App, the details about it will be properly notified, he added.

Medical Superintendent SKIMS in presence of various faculty heads of concerned areas explained how SKIMS is providing best patient care facilities in these areas despite certain challenges. The outcome in these facilities is comparable to any leading institution in the country, he marinated.
While replying to various queries he said the SKIMS has a proper online system where patients can easily access appointment in concerned speciality and access reports of various investigations without any hassle. He said SKIMS is in the process of having Help Desks to facilitate patients.He further added various services like Pediatric Emergency has been set up in a new block with high end equipment and facilities. New University Block is ready for inauguration. A new CT Simulator has been made functional and all the formalities are being worked out to install new high end equipments.

HOD, Hospital Administration Ghulam Hassan Yatoo responded to queries about parking and said that SKIMS is managing parking lots to the best of its efficiency and the hospital administration is managing critical areas very effectively and with utmost respinsibility. He added that the Emergency Service Area was revamped on priority under the leadership of Director SKIMS.
It is pertinent to mention that Public Darbar” will be conducted every month, the initiative has been launched for wider public reach and creates a two- way interactive practice where hospital administration and public will find an equal space for better patient care practices.
