SRINAGAR, AUG 06 – National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday said that all dictators will face same fate as Bangladesh.

Speaking to reporters here at Srinagar, Farooq said that the longstanding unrest and high unemployment were major contributing factors to the current crisis in Bangladesh. The country’s poor economic conditions also compounded the instability leading to governmental collapse, he said.

Highlighting the broader implications, Farooq warned dictators worldwide to take heed of these developments, using Bangladesh as a recent example of regime failure under similar pressures.

“I think all dictators must remember they will face the same thing as Bangladesh faced,” he cautioned.

On being asked about the upcoming visit of the Election Commission of India (ECI), scheduled in the next two days, to J&K, Farooq said that it is their Job to come.

“The Election Commission is scheduled to visit in the next two days. It’s their job to come. They will come and the election date will be fixed. Nothing bigger than that. That’s their job,” he said.

On amendments to Waqf Board, Farooq said that he has not seen them as yet. “Unless I see what amendments are coming, then only I can comment on it,” he added.

Speaking on the tensions escalate on the Eastern Front, Farooq said, “we should be extremely careful and we should watch the situation with great care. I hope it will resolve. I hope they are going to be able to get over this crisis.”
