Tariq Zarger visits Shopian; participates in PMAY (G) camps

Takes stock of public grievances, demands

SHOPIAN, JUNE 06 – Secretary in Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj, Tariq Ahmad Zarger, today visited Heerpora, Manloo and other panchayats of Shopian district and participated in camps held under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana Gramin (PMAY G) besides taking stock of public demands and grievances regarding the scheme.

Tariq Zargar said that PMAY-G is centre’s flagship housing entitlement scheme which aims to address the housing problems of poor populace. It addresses the rural housing shortage and bridges the housing deficit in rural areas of India, contributing significantly towards mission of “Housing for All”. This year about 2 lakh housing units have been targeted to be completed in the UT, he informed.

Secretary in RDD apprised that the PMAY special camps are being organised in Panchayats across the UT in order to register beneficiaries on the spot. He added that the process of registration, documentation shall be done during these camps and deserving families are going to be benefited in a significant number with more easier procedures.

Among others, the camps were attended by ACD, Shopian, Hilal Ahmad Jiri, ACP Shopian, Manzoor Ahmad, Block Development Officers and other concerned officials besides and locals and PRI members.
