34th National Road Safety Week: DC B’la flags-off Awareness Rally

BARAMULLA, JAN 11 – The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today flagged-off a rally from DC Office here to mark the 34th Road Safety Week, organized by the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) in association with District Administration.

Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC), Aijaz Abdullah Saraf; Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Zahoor Ahmad Raina; ARTO besides other functionaries of concerned departments were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the “Road Safety Week” is organized every year to educate people about the road safety measures besides providing an opportunity to take part in concerted efforts for the cause. She stressed upon MVD to deal strictly with the violators.

Highlighting the importance of National Road Safety Month, Dr Sehrish said that enforcement of traffic regulations and awareness regarding road safety measures is essential for preventing road accidents. She advised the department to organize such activities throughout the year to create a change in mindset of the people so that the people voluntarily follow traffic rules.

Meanwhile, other higher dignitaries who were present on the occasion urged the cooperation from transporters and civil society members to ensure better transport facilities in the district.

Earlier, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer Baramulla highlighted the series of events to be organized by the Motor Vehicle Department during the Road Safety Month in Baramulla district.
