International volunteers Day celebrated in Srinagar

ADC Srinagar stresses on promoting volunteerism in society/youth to infuse spirit of empathy among masses

SRINAGAR DEC 05 – To mark the International Volunteers Day, the District Red Cross Committee, Srinagar in collaboration with Kashmir Harvard Educational Institution today organized a grand Programme here in the auditorium of Kashmir Harvard School with the theme “Solidarity through Volunteering”.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr Syed Haneef Balkhi over the function.

Chairman, Kashmir Harvard Tariq Ahmad Baktoo, Vice Principal Mukhtar Ahmad Kant, besides District Scial welfare Officer, Srinagar, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, BMO Hazratbal, Dr Farah and other concerned were also present in the programme.

The International Volunteers Day is celebrated across the globe to recognize and appreciate volunteers of Red Cross Society for their selfless services for the betterment of humanity.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Syed Haneef Balkhi congratulated the volunteers who have been continuously serving humanity irrespective of colour, caste, creed and religion. He highlighted the role of volunteers during natural calamities, accidents and other emergencies. He appreciated the volunteers for rendering services for the noble causes to be more effective during natural calamities.

The ADC said the day is observed to offer an opportunity for volunteer-involving organizations and individual volunteers to promote volunteerism, encourage Government to support volunteer efforts and recognize volunteer contributions to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals at Local, National and International levels.

The ADC stressed on promoting spirit of volunteerism in society and said that the young generation should be prepared from the very beginning toward this noble cause to infuse the spirit of empathy among them towards those who need help in the difficult times.

Chairman, Kashmir Harward, Tariq Ahmad Baktoo also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance of celebrating International Volunteers Day.

While speaking on the occasion, BMO Hazratbal, Dr Farah laid focus on the importance of volunteerism.

Earlier, Vice Principal, Kashmir Harward, Mukhtar Ahmad Kant welcomed the dignitaries and other participants.

On the occasion, famous Blood donor, Shabir Hussain Khan who has donated 180 points of blood was also felicitated.
