DC B’la inaugurates first ever Assessment/ Registration Camp at Dak Bungalow

BARAMULLA, NOV 07 – In order to identify and register the persons with disability in the district, the Social Welfare Department in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Corporation of India (ALIMCO) today organized Registration cum Assessment Camp at Dak Bungalow here.

The camp was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar.

It is worth mentioning here that the persons identified in these camps will be provided different types of prosthetic aid free of cost by the Social Welfare Department.

All the persons were checked for different prosthetic aids by the team of ALIMCO in presence of Deputy Commissioner Baramulla,  Social Welfare Officer, and other staff members.

The differently abled persons were also made aware about the welfare schemes run by the Department for their welfare.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the main objective of the scheme is to assist the needy disabled persons by providing durable, sophisticated and scientifically manufactured, modern standard aids and appliances to promote physical social, psychological rehabilitation of persons with disabilities by reducing the effects of disabilities and at the same time enhance their economic potential.

The DC also informed that Baramulla is the first district in J&K UT to organize the registration cum Assessment camp  for the specially abled persons.

She urged people with disabilities to register themselves in the camps being organized at Sopore,  Kunzer and Uri also on 8th, 9th and 10th of November respectively.
