DC B’la chairs winter preparedness meet

BARAMULLA, OCT. 10 – The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar today chaired a meeting at her office Chamber to review winter preparedness of departments in the district.

During the meeting, the DC reviewed availability of snow clearance machines, stock position of essentials, action plans prepared by the concerned departments framed to prevent interruption to services during this winter season.

The DC instructed officers to prepare a comprehensive and meticulous snow clearance and winter plan to avoid any inconvenience to people by extending a prompt response.

She called for better coordination in dealing with snow clearance operations and to ensure smooth power, water supply and other essential supplies.

The DC also directed the concerned officers for deployment of snow clearing machinery and equipment for snow clearance on essential, main and internal roads as and when required.

Meanwhile,  Power Development Department was directed to notify schedule of curtailment in Power supply in the district.

It was also given out that the sale of crude heating devices shall be banned and such devices will be seized on the sale counters.

Fire and Emergency department was directed to conduct fire safety audits in all government offices,  hotels and other establishments in places of tourist destinations. It was also given out that the forest department will keep fire wood available for its distribution to the religious institutions.

Moreover,  DC also instructed for activation of control rooms at District, Sub Division and Tehsil headquarters besides PDD, PHE, Mechanical departments were also instructed to establish their control rooms to ensure prompt response to people in winters.
