UDHAMPUR, AUG 17 – The Department of Youth Services & Sports (YSS) J&K organized mega district level inter school yoga competitions for boys under the age group of 19 years at indoor complex Subhas Stadium here.

To receive inputs about the event, Director Youth Services & Sports J&K had a word with District Youth Services & Sports Officer Udhampur from his office chamber. Director YSS while expressing joy over the organization of this event, appreciated efforts of the field staff of the Department in organizing sports competitions in different games and channelizing the sports talent in J&K youth at grassroots level. He further said that Yoga is not just about bending or twisting the body & holding the breath. It is the technique to bring one into a state where he or she experiences numerous benefits of health. “It is heartening to see people around the globe taking yoga practice to newer heights”, he added. He stressed upon the organization of such events for both Government and private school children across the UT to inculcate a better sense of fitness among them.

Pertinently scores of Boys drawn from different schools of the district participated in the competitions. Sorav Verma of AOC HSS was declared first while Arshad Ahmad Sheikh of SPM HSS, Anil Kumar of SPM HSS, Amit Gokha of HSS Berta and Aditesh Raj Sharma of HSS Boys Udhampur clinched 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th positions respectively.

District Youth Services & Sports Officer (DYSSO) Udhmapur, Zonal Officers and other senior officials of the Department were present at the award cum concluding ceremony of the competitions.
