SRINAGAR – The weeklong workshop on ‘Physics Curriculum Development’ (PCD) concluded on Saturday at Department of Physics at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar.

The workshop was aimed to overhaul the system as per NEP 2020. It is vital for achieving the long-term goals of New Education Policy 2020.

Director NIT Srinagar, Prof. (Dr), Prof. Rakesh Sehgal lauded Physics Department for taking a lead role in revamping the curriculum of Physics at NIT Srinagar.

“It is the positive beginning and we will provide every support for establishment of laboratories for experiential learning as envisaged in policy,” he said.

Prof. Sehgal said the primary focus of NEP 2020 is to prepare the youth to become competent and competitive for nation-building.

In his message, Institute’s Registrar, Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari said NEP 2020 aims at the holistic development of students to create better citizens with high ethical and moral standards apart from subject knowledge.

“NEP is a game-changer that can overhaul the country’s education system by reorienting, redesigning, and realigning its processes. It is a tool to transform the country into a ‘knowledge destination’, Prof. Bukhari said.

In his speech, HOD Physics Dr. Shah said the workshop was aimed to harness full human potential and all-round development of individuals by providing them right environment to access inclusive and quality education.

He said NEP2020 is one of the most significant and overarching initiatives of our Government to completely revamp the education system.

The valedictory session was graced by eminent experts from several other departments including Head Department of Chemistry, Prof Kowsar Majid, Former Dean Academics, and Head Department of Mathematics Prof Tanveer Jalal.

 Dean Alumni and International Affairs Prof M S Mir, Head, IIED Center, Dr. Saad Parvaiz, besides other eminent persons and faculty members of the various department attended the program.

Prof. Dinesh Pandaya, Adjunct Faculty, IIT Jammu (Online), Prof. P.K. Raina, Former Head Physics, IIT Ropar, were present during the valedictory session of the academic event.

The discussion among the internal and external experts regarding curriculum development was fruitful in finalizing the curriculum.
