Independence Day arrangements discussed at Kathua

KATHUA – Deputy Commissioner, Kathua Rahul Pandey today chaired a meeting of district officers to discuss the arrangements for the celebration of Independence Day 2022 at District headquarters.

The meeting decided that the main function would be held at Sports Stadium, Kathua, where the chief guest would hoist the National Flag and take salute at the march past comprising the contingents of Police, CRPF, Army, PTS, Army Band, Police Band, platoon of NCC cadets besides tiny platoons of school students.

The DC impressed upon the concerned departments to put in dedicated efforts while executing their assigned duties as the country is celebrating “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” to mark 75 years of Indian Independence.

It was given out in the meeting that the number of March past contingents would  be increased this year    in view of an improved covid situation.

The meeting  also decided to start the rehearsal of march past from 1st August 2022 and that for cultural activities from 8th August 2022.

The DC called upon CEO Kathua and President, Private School Association Kathua to shortlist two best cultural presentations each from their respective schools on cultural and patriotic themes.

“The celebrations on the day will begin with the playing of Shahnai Vadan and patriotic songs by the Information Department in the wee hours at DC Office and SSP Office, Kathua,” the meeting was told.

The DC directed the concerned departments to ensure proper arrangements related to security, sanitation, seating, barricading, drinking water supply, power supply, transportation and illumination of important buildings etc on Independence Day.

The Chief Executive Officer, Municipality was asked to maintain cleanliness in the town as well as at the venue besides illumination of important official buildings and other identified locations. Health department was directed to ensure the deployment of a medical team along with one ambulance  at the venue.  The District Police and Traffic Police would ensure security and traffic management, the DC added.

Department of Fire & Emergency Services were directed to station one fire tender at the venue to meet out any exigency.

The DC called upon the district offices to ensure plantation and cleanliness drives at their respective offices before the National Day function, further asked them to ensure flag hoisting be done in their offices with full honor while following the Flag Code of India.

While discussing the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign’, DC called for ensuring participation of all stakeholders to mark 75 Years of Independence by hoisting of National Flags over all the institutional and residential buildings in befitting style across the district.

SSP Kathua R.C Kotwal, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Atul Gupta, RTO, CPO, ACR, ACP and other senior officers from Civil Administration and Police were present in the meeting.
