Div Com Jammu reviews Eid-ul-Adha arrangements

JAMMU – Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar today convened a meeting of concerned officers and civil society members to review the arrangements for Eid-ul-Adha festival.

Commissioner JMC, Rahul Yadav; SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli; Director FCS &CA,  chief Engineers of PWD, JPDCL, Jal Shakti, besides senior officers of Sheep Husbandry, traffic, Health, Fire services, food safety,  AUQAF, Imams, presidents of Masjid committees and civil society members were present in the meeting.

The Divisional Commissioner directed JPDCL and Jal Shakti  Departments to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply on Eid-ul-Adha, while civic authorities were asked to maintain  cleanliness  in and around the Eidgah and mosques.

 He directed enforcement departments to keep check on the rates and quality of essential commodities and book those indulging in overpricing and other unfair trade practices. “Conduct intensive market checking and enforce display of rate lists notified by the government for information of the general public” he directed the concerned authorities.

The Health department was directed to make available health care services at the venues of congregational prayers and during the festival to meet any emergency.

The Div Com exhorted upon the police and traffic department to put in place adequate security arrangements around the mosques and ensure traffic management to avoid any inconvenience to the visitors.

 The Div Com stressed on maintaining close coordination among different departments and Auqaf and Masjid Committees for smooth celebration of the festival.

The JMC was asked to ensure better sanitation and functioning of the street lights, while PWD was asked to start filling of potholes, if any, on the city roads and approach roads to the mosques.

Meanwhile, the Divisional Commissioner reviewed the arrangements being put in place for celebration of Eid-ul-Adha in all the districts of the division.

The Deputy Commissioners along with SSPs of Jammu division participated in the meeting through video conferencing.

The Div Com instructed DCs to ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place for smooth celebration of Eid-ul-Adha at district and tehsil levels. He also asked the Director Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs to ensure adequate stock of essentials in the districts during the festival.
