NEW DELHI –  The board of Reliance Jio has appointed Akash Ambani as its Chairman, the company said in a regulatory filing on Monday.

The elevation of Akash Abmani as Reliance Jio board chairman was announced, along with the resignation of his father Mukesh Ambani as Director of Jio.

”The Board of Directors have, at their meeting held on June 27, 2022, noted the resignation of Mukesh D Ambani as Director of the Company, effective from close of working hours on June 27, 2022 and approved the appointment of Akash M Ambani, Non-Executive Director as Chairman of the board of directors of the company,” Jio informed the stock exchanges.

Akash Ambani had joined Jio in 2014.
The company said it has approved the appointment of Raminder Singh Gujral and K V Chowdary as Additional Directors of the company, designated as independent directors for a period of five years commencing from June 27, 2022.

It also approved the appointment of Pankaj Mohan Pawar as Managing Director of the company for a period of five years commencing from June 27, 2022.

The decision was, however, subject to clearance for shareholders.
