KISHTWAR – Chairperson of J&K Waqf Board Dr Darakhshan Andrabi today presided over the 117th Annual Day function of Islamia Faridiya Educational & Research Institute held at its Kishtwar Campus. This premier educational & research institute serves Chinab Valley students in different streams & subjects. The function was attended by District Development Commissioner Kishtwar, SSP, Ex-MLAs, Ex-MLCs, the General Manager of NHPC, Institute Alumnae, Municipal Chairman Kishtwar Sajjad Najar, CEO of Waqf Board Dr Majid Jahangir, Administrator Waqf Kishtwar Zakir Hussain Wani and prominent citizens of Kishtwar & Doda. A complete report of achievements was presented by the Administrator before the Deputy Commissioner & SSP Kishtwar addressed the gathering. In her presidential address Dr Darakhshan Andrabi congratulated the Institute Management for their efforts to establish this Institute as the leading education & research hub in the area. She said that J&K Waqf Board will soon formulate a plan to give a boost to infrastructure & other facilities here so that this emerges as one of the leading Educational Centers of J&K and the Country. She instructed the management to formulate a plan for developing this Institute as a National Level Educational Centre. “Waqf Board has a huge educational set-up in J&K but it needs to be streamlined and improved.  Many of Waqf-managed educational centres are in shambles and the new Board has taken note of it. We are devising a holistic roadmap to develop the existing educational network of Waqf within a year. With the help of the grant of the Union Ministry of Minority Affairs, Waqf intends to begin some coaching centres for Competitive Examinations & Civil Services and also establish some skill-centres in the UT,” said Dr Darakhshan Andrabi. Waqf Board Chairperson congratulated the staff & the teaching faculty for their hard work which won laurels for this Institute. Dr Darakhshan Andrabi later chaired a meeting of the civil society representatives and listened to the issues and suggestions of the people of the area. Dr Andrabi assured them that she will be taking up the issues with the administration so that they are resolved at the earliest.  Dr Andrabi appealed to the people to maintain communal harmony & brotherhood at all costs so that the designs of anti-social elements to disrupt peace are defeated. “Unity among all sections of society is our strength and we have to remain united for our resolve of co-existence for everlasting peace & development,” said Andrabi.
