Kulgam lifts YSS Cup-2021 Volleyball title

JAMMU – YSS Cup 2021 in the disciplines of Volleyball, Cricket, Kho-Kho and Kabaddi, has served as a launching pad to tap young talent from the grass-root level. So, the need is to make it an annual feature.
This was stated by the Principal Secretary to Government, Youth Services and Sports Department, Alok Kumar on the closing ceremony of the YSS Cup-2021 Volleyball Tournament, organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at Khel Gaon Nagrota, near here.
Mr Alok Kumar was the chief guest on the occasion, while Gazanfar Ali, Director Youth Services and Sports J&K was the guest of honour.
Jitender Mishra, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu and Sukhdev Raj Sharma, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Jammu were also present on the occasion.

Earlier, in the summit clash, District Kulgam  trounced Anantnag in a close contest by 3-0 sets (27-25, 25-16, 26-24) to lift the title, while in the match for third place between the losers of semifinals, Jammu prevailed over Poonch by 2-0 sets (25-20, 25-17).
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Secretary YS&S lavished praise on the organisers for holding the event in a professional manner.
He said that this sporting extravaganza has yielded better results, so the Department has decided to start YSS-2022 in the same sports disciplines from 7th of the ongoing month.
Mr Alok Kumar further said that while inaugurating YSS Cup 2021 earlier he had served strict instructions to the experts, coaches of these sports disciplines to keep eye on the talented players and make a list of the same for bestowing advance training to them.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Director Sports Gazanfar Ali gave overview of the activities and achievements of the Department and praised his subordinates for doing their jobs in a befitting manner.
“To infuse a sense of competition and make these sports competitions more interesting and full of excitement, the YS&S Department is giving away cash prizes of 50 thousand for first position, 30 thousand for second position and Rs 20 thousand for third position in all the four games being played under YSS Cup-21.”, said Gazanfar Ali.
On the occasion, the chief guest and the guests of honour honoured the winners and the runners-up teams with trophies and medals.
The matches were officiated by a panel of experts from the Department of Youth Services and Sports.
