Div Com directs for holding Gram Sabhas in Ist week of April to settle FRA cases

SRINAGAR – The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole chaired a meeting here regarding conservation of forests with the officers of Forest Department.

The meeting was attended by Chief Conservator Forest Kashmir; Conservator of Forest Srinagar; Conservator of Forest South; Conservator of Forest North and  Additional Commissioner (R) Srinagar in person while all ACRs and DFOs of Kashmir division attended the meeting virtually.

On the Occasion, Div Com directed concerned officers to issue notices to encroachers who have grabbed Forest land.

He also said that Gram Sabhas shall be held on the Forest Rights Act (FRA) to settle the cases of eligible persons. In this regard, he also issued directions for DCs to make preparatory work for the successful conduct of Gram Sabhas.

The Div Com directed officers for preparation of a detailed list of Forest Rights Act Cases under segregated  four categories including approved list, rejected list, non applicants belonging to apparently tribal community and non tribal community besides under process cases.

He also directed concerned officers to identify and prepare a complete list of government employees who have encroached and grabbed Forest land.

Meanwhile, Div Com directed ACRs of all districts to retrieve government land including Kahcharai and hand it over to the Social Forestry Department to create a land bank for Forest land diversion.
