1 Dead, Nearly Dozen Injured In Mishap Inside Navyug Tunnel in Banihal

SRINAGAR – A person was killed and nearly a dozen others suffered injuries after a bus carrying tourists met with an accident inside ‘Navyug Tunnel’ connecting Banihal and Qazigund, officials said.

They said that the bus bearing registration number JK02AT 6530, as per initial reports, collided with another vehicle inside the tunnel resulting in death of a person and injuries to almost eleven persons.

Identity of the deceased could not be made on immediate basis, however it is highly likely that he is the bus driver, they said adding among the injured three have been shifted to GMC Anantnag and remaining are undergoing treatment at SDH Banihal.

The movement along the track has been suspended as the vehicle is yet to be cleared out of the way, they further said.
