In his presidential address, Prof Nawchoo said that literary and cultural festivals should become an integral part of academic institutions to foster a culture of interaction and exchange of ideas among students.

“Such festivals are an occasion for students to learn from their counterparts in other institutions and develop a holistic understanding of various social and academic issues,” he said.

Prof S M Afzal Qadri, former Dean Students Welfare at KU was a guest of honour. He appreciated the efforts of the DSW in organising cultural and literary programmes regularly.

Dean Students Welfare Prof Raies A Qadri welcomed the guests and participants while highlighting various programmes held by the office of DSW in recent years.

He said the DSW is conscious of various social problems and has aligned its programmes to address the same with the active involvement of students from colleges and universities.

KU Cultural Officer Shahid Ali Khan proposed a vote of thanks and also conducted the proceedings of the event. He said the varsity’s literary club will be soon organising a series of training workshops for young debaters and poets wherein experts will polish their skills.

“The literary club is also organising the Asian Parliamentary Debate competition for students of universities and colleges next month,” he said.
