DC Jammu reviews Eid-ul-Adha arrangements

Appeals devotees to follow Covid SOPs during prayers, congregations

JAMMU – To finalize the arrangements for Eid-ul-Adha and implementation of restrictions related to Covid-19, the Deputy Commissioner Jammu Anshul Garg today convened a meeting of representatives of religious organisations and district officials of various departments, here at the conference hall of DC Office Jammu.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner appealed the Muslim community to follow Covid SOPs guidelines while performing prayers in the mosques. He also urged them to offer Namaz and perform other rituals amid the safety of their homes to prevent Covid-19 spread.

Taking stock of the supply of ration and other essential commodities to the people, the DC directed the officers of FCS&CA to ensure that all eligible ration card holders were provided ration in the district and no household is left out.

With regard to essential services and basic amenities, the DC asked PHE and PDD to ensure uninterrupted supply of water and electricity on the auspicious occasion of Eid  to avoid inconvenience  to the people.

The DC also enjoined upon officers to intensify market checking in the district to ensure people get quality commodities at Government fixed rates.

He directed the concerned enforcement agencies to keep strict check on quality and rates of Meat, Chicken, Fruit, Vegetables, Bakery and other essentials to curb any hoardings and profiteering. He also stressed on strict adherence to Covid-19 Appropriate Behavior at these shops to avoid spread of Covid-19 infection.

The DC also directed for maintaining cleanliness in market places, mosques and other areas in the district.

SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli, ADC (L&O) Ghanshyam Singh, ADC Adm Satish Kumar, ACG Rakesh Dubey besides other sectoral officers of line departments were present in the meeting.
