Covid Decline: Weekend Corona lockdown lifted from 8 districts of JK, UT

Srinagar-  The Government on Sunday announced further relaxation in the Crown Lockdown, following an exhaustive review of the current COVID situation in Jammu and Kashmir, and ordered the lifting of the Corona Curfews in eight UT districts of Jammu and Kashmir, including Ganderbal, Bandipora and Shopian district.

In an order issued by the State Executive Committee (SEC), a copy of which also lies with Srinagar Observer, which reads, “Whereas it was observed that as compared to the previous week, while significant improvement has been made by at least eight districts in respect of the above parameters, there is need for further improvement in interest of public health in all districts. Besides, some districts need intense efforts to reach desired levels. As such, there is a need to continue with existing COVID containment measures in these districts”.

“Now therefore, the State Executive Committee, in exercise of the powers conferred up on it under section 24 of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, hereby orders that the guidelines / instructions on COVID containment in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir already notified vide Government Orders 35 and 36 – JK DMRRR of 2021 dated 29-05-2021 read with G O no. 40 – JK DMRRR of 2021 dated 15.06.2021 shall continue to remain in force till further orders. However, the relaxations   are extended   to only  eight districts viz, Shopian, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Jammu, Samba, Kuthua, Reasi and Udhampur  on account of significant improvements shown by them in the above-mentioned parameters”, states the order.

The order further states that, “There will be no weekend curfew in these districts. However, daily night curfew will continue to exist from 8 pm to 7 am. Concerned District Magistrates shall issue Orders under CrPC to this effect”.

According to the orders, the outdoor shops and trades are permitted to work on all days, from 7 AM till 7 PM, while 50 percent of the shops in the indoor shopping complexes / Malls can open subject to a roster to be issued by concerned Deputy Commissioners.

While with respect to the other districts of the UT, the State Executive Committee has ordered Weekend Curfew from Friday 8 pm till Monday 7 am and daily night curfew from 8 pm till 7 am.

“In partial relaxation of G.O no. 36 – JX (DMRRR) of 2021 date 29.05.2021, tft8 Deputy Commissioners are further authorized  to  allow  opening  of  paid  / unpaid parks for the use of public, only after local assessment of the conditions and after according due consideration, subject to COVID appropriate measures”, the order further states
