Srinagar: COVID-19 vaccination drive has been initiated at Kashmir Press Club (KPC), Srinagar on Saturday to give first jab of the vaccine to journalists.
An official said the vaccination has been started today as journalists are more vulnerable to COVID-19 virus.
Several journalists participated in the drive and received first jab of vaccine at the KPC.
Meanwhile, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Mayor Junaid Azim Mattu said the vaccine drive at KPC is a right step.
He said media fraternity is vulnerable to COVID-19 virus in dispensing their duties which are essential.
However, a number of political parts and media organizations have demanded that journalists should be declared front line warriors.
There are hundreds of media persons, associated with local, national and international media organizations, operating in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir.
