SMC Conducted Anti Encroachment Drive in Several Areas of City

SRINAGAR: Srinagar Municipal Corporation’s Anti Encroachment Squad today visited several areas of the City including Regal Chowk, Jehangir Chowk, Mahraja Bazaar, Dalgate and other adjoining areas.

The drive was conducted under the supervision of Commissioner SMC Mr Athar Amir Khan, who was also accompanied by Joint Commissioner Adm, Joint Commissioner Works, Chief Sanitation officer, Chief Anti Encroachment Officer and other officials.

Action against encroachments along mains roads and markets was taken during the drive.

The goods that led to encroachment, displayed by street vendors and shopkeepers outside their shops were removed and seized on spot.

SMC took strong cognizance of the violations and the violators were also fined

The Anti Encroachment Squad has been reorganized to ensure effective strategized and sustainable enforcement on ground to remove encroachments for smooth flow of traffic and pedestrian movement in the city.

The drive will strictly continue and anyone found violating fundamental rules would be dealt with accordingly, said the Commissioner SMC.

Mr Athar Amir Khan advised street vendors, shopkeepers to keep their belonging within their shop’s premise, otherwise face the consequences, seizure and imposition of fine.

Mean while Mr Athar also inspected various business establishments and markets to review the adherence to the Covid 19 guidelines and made an appeal to people to follow religiously the protocol by wearing masks and maintaining social distance.
