Mumbai: The BSE Sensex dropped 759.29 points or 1.53 pc to settle at 48,832.03 in a week under review as rising COVID-19 cases spooked investors.
However, the benchmarks staged recovery since Tuesday supported by positive global cues.
Nifty too declined 217 points or 1.46 PC to settle at 14,617.85.
The BSE Mid-Cap dropped 604.81 or 2.91 pc to settle at 20,157.36. BSE Small-Cap skid 578.30 points or 2.68 PC to settle at 21,018.55.
On Monday, following a spurt in COVID-19 cases in the country triggered fears of fresh lockdowns the Sensex slumped 1,707.94 points to settle at 47,883.38. Nifty tanked 524.05 points to settle at 14,310.80.
And from Tuesday, it was bounced back as on Tuesday it rose 660.68 points to settle at 48,544.06. Nifty gained 194 points to settle at 14,504.80.
The domestic equity markets were shut on Wednesday April 14, 2021 on account of Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Jayanti.
On Thursday, the Sensex, gained 259.62 points to settle at 48,803.68. Nifty gained 76.65 points to close at 14,581.45.
On Friday, the Sensex gained 28.35 points to settle at 48,832.03. Nifty too gained 36.40 points or 0.25% at 14,617.85.
