With just a month after the reopening of educational institutions across the Valley, the Schools upto Class 12th standard have been closed yet again to prevent the deadly virus from spreading. It is worthwhile to mention here that the decision about closure of schools comes days after about 100 students as well as the staff members tested positive for COVID-19 in Valley Schools, thus creating a chaotic situation among the parents as well as the students and the schools administrations as well. However, one fails to understand how the closure of schools would serve the cause at a time when the public places could be seen flooded with the people. There is no let up in the rush of the people in the markets, public parks and other places here, where the risk for the spread of COVID-19 turns possible, thus leaving the lives of people at a great risk. One fails to understand why education becomes the first causality in Jammu and Kashmir. It is not only affecting the studies of students but also affecting the future of the society. Keeping away the students from their schools would have serious ramifications on the society. Thus, in wake of the better future of the society, the government should consider opening of the educational institutions at an earliest and ensure that the studies of the students wouldn’t get affected any further.
