The evenings comes with the hardships to the people here as most of the areas have been left high and dry as the areas lack the mandatory street lights, thus pushing the people not to come out of their homes especially in the evening and the wee hours of the morning. The promises of massive development in Jammu and Kashmir are being questioned every now and then as the authorities don’t bother to take steps to ensure the basic facilities at least, which could have provided a sigh of relief among the masses here and could have also brought a picture of a new developmental era visible to the people. One fails to understand why it is taking so long to make the basic facilities available to the people especially the street lights. A look at the most places of Srinagar is putting question mark over the claims of installation of the street lights in all the areas of the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. The people from several areas are suffering immensely due to the absence of these lights and here have demanded the installation of street lights, but the concerned failed to bring a solution in this regard and also come up to the expectations of the people. There is a need to start installation of street lights in the areas, which don’t have the facility. The government must consider taking measures and identifying the places where street lights have not been installed yet so that the process is started forthwith to put an end to the sufferings of the people.
