Sense of accountability missing in the J&K administration: Altaf Bukhari

SRINAGAR:  Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Friday observed that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are enduring immense agonies on account of an unnecessary delay in their political empowerment.

Addressing a joining ceremony at the Party office in Lal Chowk, Srinagar, Bukhari said that there is no substitute to an elected government and a bureaucratic regime can never address the aspirations of the people.

“People give vent to their day-to-day based sufferings when they meet us. I think the sense of accountability is missing in our bureaucratic set-up. But it happens when you have no elected government in place,” he said, while underlining the need for early restoration of the Statehood.

Bukhari said that Apni Party has been repeatedly urging the government of India not to delay the restoration of statehood to J&K. “And we are of firm belief that the Statehood alone can prove panacea to the people’s sufferings,” he remarked

He also said that the situation in J&K remains appalling with regard to the abrupt stagnation of developmental projects due to the lackadaisical approach of the current administration.

“Apni Party wants resolution to the problems faced by the people at large. The developmental works have come to a standstill in absence of a democratically elected government and it has become imperative at this point of time that the right to elect an accountable government is given back to the people,” Bukhari said.

He further said that Apni Party adheres to the principle of ‘politics of truth’ which demands sincerity and efforts at grass root levels. The new entrants from Shopian thanked the Party leadership for providing them with such a platform and avowed to strengthen the party at grass root level.

Besides Bukhari, Party’s Senior Vice-President Ghulam Hassan Mir, Vice President Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, State Secretary and District President Budgam Muntazir Mohi-ud-din, District President Srinagar Noor Mohammad, District President Kupwara Raja Manzoor, District President Pulwama Ghulam Mohammad Mir, District President Ganderbal Javid Mir, Party Leader Irfan Matoo, Tariq Veeri, Dr. Aneesul Islam, Sajad Ibrahim, Khanday Sahib, Mohammad Amin Bhat, Gul Mohammad Tantray, and Sameer Ahmad Khan attended the joining ceremony.
