Assuring Crime Free Society

Education is the basic right of every child irrespective of the caste, creed and colour, which he or she belongs to. The better education is not possible until and unless the authorities concerned will not ensure the basic infrastructure at the educational institutions. The infrastructure that has always been ignored by the successive regimes has resulted in sufferings to the students enrolled in different institutions across Jammu and Kashmir. There are many schools in the Valley which paint a grim picture of the education sector while many of the schools don’t even have a proper teacher-student ratio. There are a number of schools across the Valley and many of them are functional in rented accommodations. Besides, some of the schools in far-flung areas are functional in tin sheds. This situation can only be witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir due to the non-seriousness of the people at helm so far. There are people who question the working of the concerned department as it seems it doesn’t bother to improve the situation of the schools here. The government had earlier taken steps to merge the schools to improve the situation of the educational sector. But, on ground it fails to attract the people and improve the scenario, thus leaving students to lurch at large. The government needs to take cue from the Delhi government which has improved the educational sector in a better way from last couple of years and many people have been happily enrolling their children to these schools. As Jammu and Kashmir is also having the downtrodden section, the children of these families also need proper education, therefore it becomes eminent for the concerned to take measures to improve the facilities and conditions of the schools here so that they (students from poor families) can also avail the benefits. Also, the schools functional in rented accommodation or in tin sheds deserve to get their own buildings for which steps must be taken at an earliest so that the sufferings of students as well as the teachers will come to an end.
