Sgr Admin holds meet, chalks out strategy to prevent spread of COVID

Srinagar: In wake of the resurge in COVID-19 cases, the district administration Srinagar under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar Mohammed Ajaz Assad convened a review meeting to chalk out the future strategy so that the COVID-19 guidelines, which are already in place, are followed in letter and spirit.

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammed Ajaz Asad  said that the meeting was in regard with the growing number of Covid-19 positive cases in Srinagar. During the meeting, some of the key points were decided including the number of testing will be increased and the already laid down COVID-19 protocol like wearing face masks at public places and maintaining physical distance at public places, should be followed rigorously.

“We are also going to involve the Civil Society and community heads including Imams of local Masjids, so that the message is disseminated among the masses about the COVID-19 SOPs and guidelines. Srinagar Administration will make an outreach programme with trade bodies, hoteliers, transporters and other associations for the implementation of COVID-19 SOPs and guidelines,” he said.

He further stated that the super spread areas have also been identified and rigorous testing will be started in these areas. “All we want is that people have to be careful. We have to follow the COVID-19 guidelines in spirit. It is a shared responsibility of the society and adhering to the COVID-19 guidelines is for the betterment of the society,” he added.

About the monitoring of Schools in Srinagar amid ongoing COVID-19 situation, he said, Srinagar Administration has intensified its series of inspections of Schools and other educational institutions in Srinagar for adherence of COVID-19 SOPs and guidelines. The educational institutions in Srinagar are complying with the laid COVID-19 guidelines, however, if there is any leniency the suitable action will be taken, he added.

About the ongoing COVID-19 situation in Srinagar, he said, people have to understand the reality of COVID-19 pandemic and the world has moved on with this reality, the economic cycle is reviving so is the tourism and other sectors in the Country, which are coming back on track, all it needs the adherence of covid-19 preventive measures.
