Illegal car parking: A nuisance

The streamlining of traffic can never be possible until and unless people especially the commuters will cooperate with the concerned department. There was a time when an action was taken against the illegal car parking especially at commercial Hub Lal Chowk, which provided a sigh of relief among the commuters. However, the show ended within a short span of time as the illegal car parking continued unabated without any serious action against the violators. The action against illegal car parking was taken barely a day after the High Court directed the concerned to act tough against the people involved. Not even a single vehicle was seen on the roadsides, which ended up in easy passage to the vehicular movement for a few days. However, as soon as the show ended, the traffic mess returned to the Valley roads especially in Srinagar areas, thus adding to the miseries of the commuters as well as the pedestrians. Traffic mess in Srinagar areas could be witnessed almost each and every day, thus putting a responsibility on the concerned authorities to ensure that stringent measures are taken well on time against the commuters, who are found violating the norms especially parking their vehicles on the roadsides. The situation outside the government offices is not different, but more haphazard as the number of people visiting these offices, park their cars illegally on the roadsides, thus leaving the commuters to lurch at lurch. Therefore, the concerned must start a drive to ensure that no one is allowed to park their vehicles illegally so that the commuters who are facing a tough time would heave a sigh of relief.
