SRINAGAR: To ensure strict adherence to the COVID-19 guidelines, the district administration Srinagar on Monday conducted on spot testing in every Tehsil of summer capital of the Union Territory including the markets and private schools here while the officials stated that fine was also imposed from some of the norm violators throughout the day.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Srinagar, Syed Hanief Balkhi said that the teams visited various places throughout the day including the commercial Hub Lal Chowk here.

He said the officers besides visiting the markets in every Tehsil of Srinagar, also visited the private schools where testing was conducted and fine was also imposed from those who were found violating the norms.

Balkhi also added that awareness about wearing face masks were also created among the general public during the day, saying that the drive would continue.

“All those who undergo COVID testing today were tested negative,” he said, adding that they instead of focusing towards imposing fine are trying to create awareness among the masses about the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), saying that the administration wants everyone to follow the COVID protocol in letter and spirit to prevent the deadly virus from spreading.

“Tomorrow, a meeting of health officials and others, will be chaired by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar wherein enforcement of the protocol will be discussed further. We have been taking early steps to ensure that the previous situation is prevented,” he said.

About schools, he said, all the private as well as the government educational institutions have been following the protocols in letter and spirit.
