There is every possibility of post March-2020 situation in Jammu and Kashmir in case the timely steps are not taken on time as the deadly Coronavirus cases are witnessing a surge in past couple of days, thus prompting the authorities to hold back to back meetings in this regard. Although there is an announcement that Srinagar administration is mulling to act tough against the people for violating the COVID-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). But, there is a need to come up with the stringent measures throughout the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. In case of further delay in taking apt measures, the situation would likely be at par with Maharashtra and other states where the cases are rising with each passing day. In Jammu and Kashmir, the cases are also witnessing a surge, thus putting a responsibility on the government as well as the general people to prevent the COVID virus from spreading. One fails to understand why the administrations in the respective districts are not taking appropriate measures in this regard. The people have to show seriousness in combating the virus and must have to follow the protocols in letter and spirit to ensure the COVID is prevented from spreading. Besides, there is a need to take action against the people who are found violating the SOPs in this regard. The campaigns as well as the measures must be resumed at an earliest while the testing at the hospitals and others places should also be increased to ensure that all the symptomatic patients will get tested at appropriate time.
