JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Police emerged victorious on various Policing fronts. This was stated by the Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh while speaking on the opening ceremony of the Inter Zone Sport Meet at Gulshan Ground here today.
The DGP said that J&K Police is a name, it is a dream and it is well known not only in J&K but at the national and international level for its successes. He said that the commitment, dedication and devotion shown by JKP, has written history of the force in golden letters. He said that good work and sacrifices of J&K Police have been lauded and recognized at various platforms by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, Home Minister of India, and Lt. Governor of J&K . He said that during the in last couple of years the J&K Police has become the recipient of a number of medals including Shaurya Chakras and Kirti Chakra.
The DGP said whether its law & order, security management, on anti-terrorism front, war against drugs or handling other assignments J&K Police’s commitment in its work during the past few years is unparalleled. He said that the role played by the J&K Police soon after the outbreak of COVID pandemic is highly appreciated. He said that 15 personnel laid down their lives while protecting our own people while containing the spread of deadly virus and added that hundreds of our brave personnel were affected.
The DGP said that J&K Police’s commitment to peace, nation building is ever strong. He said that our aim to bring more normalcies will continue with more zest and zeal. He said that our relation with the people of J&K is an example in itself, and added that at every corner of the nation it is known. He said that J&K Police is facing challenge of terrorism and other challenges yet not a single civilian casualty has been reported while dealing all these challenges. He said that we have learned a lot during the last three decades and we have become stronger in handling any challenge. He said the important role played by other security agencies in prevailing peace in J&K is remarkable and appreciable.
The DGP said that after a long gap due to the outbreak of COVID pandemic sports activities began from 20th September 2020 when the government ordered relaxation in the sports activities. He said that different wings of Jammu and Kashmir Police grabbed the relaxation opportunity and sports activities were kick started in length and breadth of UT with the participation and support of local people. He said that in Kashmir he personally visited different districts and was happy to witness the enthusiastic atmosphere which had come to stand still due to the pandemic. He said that Jammu and Kashmir Police started sports activities with events like Cycling Race, Run for Fun, Run for Peace or Jashn-e-Dal function at Srinagar. In Bandipora 65 teams participated in four events. so in every other district of Kashmir zone and also in Jammu zone sports activities were carried and it was good to see the change in the atmosphere.
The DGP said that today with the start of four days sports activities these six zones representing all the personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police will compete for sports honours. He said that I am sure that all the participants will perform with spirit and enthusiasm with which they had been performing prior to the outbreak of COVID. He said that in 2019 J&K Police has proved its worth in various sports events which included, scaling of Mount Everest by SgCts Nazir Ahamd & Falil Singh. He said that various teams of Jammu & Kashmir Police have won medals and brought glory for the Police organization. He congratulated Inspector Kuldeep Handoo for being honoured with Dronacharya award.
While welcoming the retired, serving police officers, players, the DGP said that such events provide an opportunity to show talent. He said that the police personnel of different zones must take advantage of this. He complemented the ADGP Armed and IGP Armed for organizing the event.
Earlier, ADGP Armed A.K. Choudhary in his address welcomed serving, retired police officers, participating zones and others. He gave a brief resume of the different events conducted by the J&K Police for its personnel as also for the youth of the State under Civic Action Programme (CAP). He thanked the DGP J&K and Police Headquarters for supporting wholeheartedly to organise such events. He thanked all retired police officers for gracing the occasion. He also thanked departments, police wings and all the people for their cooperation in the successful organization of the opening ceremony. He also gave details about the different games in which competitions will be held during the event. SO Sports APHQ Dushant Sharma presented the vote of thanks.
