In yet another instance of attack by street dogs, a minor boy, aged eight-years-old has died after he was attacked by the street dogs in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district a few days back. However, it is unfortunate that the government acted as mute spectator without uttering a word in this regard. The death of a minor boy is a tragedy for the family, but no one seems concerned to ensure that such deaths are put to an end immediately. One fails to understand why the numbers of street dogs, instead of declining, are growing in every road, street and areas. There is a need to curb the dog population so that such attacks especially on the minors will be put to an end. It is not for the first time that such an attack has taken place, but such reports continue to be reported. One fails to understand how long such attacks will continue. The government had earlier taken steps to decline the dog population, however, the processes turned unsuccessful, thus adding to the miseries of the people on the ground. The government especially the concerned authorities across Kashmir must look for an alternative to bring a solution and ensure that deaths and injuries due to the dog attacks will come to an end with immediate effect, which is the need of the hour.
