Over 10000 Land Passbooks issued to land owners in District Srinagar

SRINAGAR – Continuing its endeavour to accelerate the pace of recently launched land mark initiative of providing Land Passbooks to legal Owners of land, the District Administration Srinagar today hold special Camps at all Tehsil offices of the District.

The camps were organized on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad to issue Land passbooks to the legal land owners as a reform to give fillip to transparency in the  service delivery mechanism in the Revenue Department.

During the camps held today,  the concerned Tehsildars hand over land Passbooks to number of lawful owners of the land.

Speaking in this regard, the Deputy Commissioner said roll out of Land Passbooks is a  historic milestone in Revenue Department aimed to promote people’s ease of access to the revenue record.

The DC said Land Passbook carries the same evidentiary value as if being certified copies of Record-of-Rights for all intents and purposes before Courts and Financial institutions.

The DC further said Land Passbooks issued to every landholder contains entry from the Jamabandi in Revenue Estate, so as to enable the landholder to make its use for availing bank credit and for other matters where Revenue Records are required.

The DC added that each Land Passbook has a unique ID and QR code as an additional security feature, and with the help of QR code any ENYÞ Ay value as if being certified copies of Record-of-Rights for all intents and purposes before Courts and Financial institutions.

The DC added that each Land Passbook has a unique ID and QR code as an additional security feature, and with the help of QR code any institution, individual or an agency can verify the credentials and authenticity of the Land Pass Book. “It is going to be a tool for redressal of various grievances, litigations, disputes at various forums and for reference”, he added.

Giving Tehsil wise details, it was given out that over 10000 land passbooks have been issued so far summing over all Tehsils of the district.

Meanwhile, the landowners who receive land Passbooks have expressed their gratitude to the District Administration Srinagar for providing land Passbooks. They also appreciated the initiative of providing facility with out moving pillar to post for want of Revenue documents.
