Sehrish visits Deoli, Bishnah, Interacts with SHGs, assesses their activities, achievements

JAMMU – Mission Director Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM), Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today visited   Deoli Block in Bishnah to take stock of implementation of Umeed scheme and its achievements.

Mission Director was  accompanied by Additional Mission  Director; State project Mangers JKRLM and District programme Managers JKRLM.

She interacted with self help groups and assessed their activities, enquired about the change in their lives as a members of SHGs of JKRLM.

Addressing the SHG member, the Director stressed upon the SHG members to avail the benefits envisaged under the Mission and strive for economic upliftment.

She further stressed upon the need for self-reliance through building community-based institutions at SHG and CLF level.

Dr Sehrish stressed upon the officials of the Mission for branding and marketing of SHG products as per the market demand. She impressed upon them to identify the areas where infrastructure and marketing support can be enhanced.

On the occasion the Block programme Manager informed the chair about the achievements of Mission in Bishnah Block. It was informed that Block Bishnah was the first block in Jammu district to be taken by Rural livelihoods Mission  in 2014 and its divided into 6 cluster comprising of 83 Village organisation  and 1014 Self Help Groups. Where as an amount of 7 crores has been provided to the SHGs as capitilization from the Mission.

In addition, the SHGs have been credit linked with the banks to the tunes of Rs 37 crores, the SHGs  members have invested the amount in different Livelihood like Dairy units, food processing units, Handicrafts, Livestock and poultry farming besides under convergence various livelihood initiatives  have been successfully initiated with the help of line departments.
