Five drug peddlers arrested in Kashmir

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police arrested five drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance and illicit liquor in the Kashmir valley, a police spokesman said on Wednesday evening.
He said Police Station Khansahab in the central Kashmir district of Badgam at a checkpoint established at Khahipora Khanshab intercepted two people identified as Mursheed Ahmed Shah and Mohammed Alam Mir both residents of Khanshab.
During checking, police recovered 11.5Kgs of Cannabis powder from them. They have been arrested.
Accordingly, a case under relevant section of law has been registered at Police Station Khansahab and further investigation has been taken up.

He said Police Station Soura at a checkpoint established at Hafiz Bagh Soura intercepted two people riding a Scooty. They have been identified as Umer Ahmad Dar alias Holder ,resident of Umerhair Soura and Usman Najar resident of Usmanabad.
During checking, police recovered Cannabis which were kept in the boot-space of Scooty wrapped in polythene bags. They have been arrested, he said adding Scooty used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Soura and further investigation has been taken up.
In Kulgam, a police party from Police Post Mirbazar at a checkpoint established at Alstop board intercepted a vehicle with one person on board. He has been identified as Tariq Ahmad Bhat resident of Khudwani Kulgam. During checking, police recovered 12.5Kgs of Poppy Straw like substance and 33 bottles of illicit liquor from him.
He has been arrested and vehicle used in the commissioning of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Qazigund and further investigation into the case has been initiated. Bhat was involved in a case and was evading arrest.
