SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 24 – The Jammu and Kashmir government has approved the provision of six free LPG cylinders annually to families covered under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), fulfilling a key commitment made by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah in his second Budget.
Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Satish Sharma announced the approval on the floor of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly during the ongoing Autumn Session.
The Minister said the competent authority had approved the scheme and that necessary orders for its implementation would be issued shortly.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the initiative would provide direct relief to vulnerable households and support the government’s welfare commitments.
The scheme was announced by Omar Abdullah while presenting his second Budget in February this year. It will provide six free LPG cylinders every year to eligible AAY families across Jammu and Kashmir, helping reduce their household expenditure on cooking fuel.
