KARNAH, KUPWARA | JUNE 27, 2025:
In a major initiative aimed at bridging the digital divide in border areas, renowned artist and social worker Rouble Nagi, Founder of the Rouble Nagi Art Foundation, announced the establishment of a computer lab at Madrasa Shah Hamdan Tangdar, Karnah, in collaboration with the Indian Army.

During her recent visit to Karnah Valley, Rouble Nagi interacted with students and teachers at the historic Madrasa Shah Hamdan on Friday morning. This madrasa, one of the oldest in Tangdar, currently accommodates nearly 150 students who are engaged in learning Quran Sharif and Islamic education.

Speaking to the media after the interaction, Rouble Nagi said, “Our foundation has always focused on integrating art and skills to empower the youth. Today, the world is moving forward digitally, and it is our responsibility to ensure that children in border areas also have access to basic digital education and computer literacy.”

She further added that the computer lab will be equipped with essential learning software to introduce students to basic computer operations, typing skills, internet literacy, and educational resources that will supplement their religious and academic education.

Teachers at Madrasa Shah Hamdan expressed their gratitude to Rouble Nagi and the Indian Army for this significant step. “Our children have been praying for such facilities. This computer lab will open a new world for them, and we are thankful to Rouble madam for thinking about us,” said Maulana Abdul Rehman, one of the senior teachers.

Community leaders and civil society members also welcomed the announcement, stating that this initiative will create opportunities for students to compete with the mainstream educational system and build confidence for their future careers.

Rouble Nagi’s foundation has been working across India to promote art-based education, skill development, women empowerment, sanitation, and community beautification projects. Her recent initiatives in Kashmir have included wall art campaigns, skill centres for women, and education support for underprivileged students.

This collaboration with the Indian Army is expected to be operational soon, ensuring that students of Tangdar not only receive religious and moral education but also remain connected with the technological advancements of the modern world.
