KARNAH, KUPWARA, APRIL 28 – At a time when tensions are escalating between India and Pakistan, a powerful “Nasha Mukt Bharat” (Drug-Free India) awareness campaign was successfully organized today at Jabdi village, near the Line of Control (LOC) in Tangdar Karnah. Despite the growing anxiety over cross-border tensions, the local population showed remarkable spirit and unity by participating enthusiastically and promoting a positive message against drug abuse.
The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Karnah Zafar Ahmad Lone graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the urgent need to reject drugs and instead embrace discipline, positivity, and personal growth, especially during such sensitive times. His message echoed strongly:
“#Say #No #To #Drugs”.
In addition to the SDM, the event saw the presence of several senior officers, including Tehsildar Karnah, ZEO Tangdar, Range Officer Karnah, AEE R&B Tangdar Waseem Maqbool, Nodal Officer Health Medical Block Tangdar Dr Mukhtar Parray ,AEE PHE Engineer Nazeem Sheikh, VAS from Sheep and Wool Development Department, IC PP Taad, and other dignitaries.
Local youth and students delivered impactful performances, speeches, and artistic presentations, highlighting the destructive effects of drug addiction and advocating for a healthier, stronger society—an especially vital message given the uncertainties and vulnerabilities created by the current cross-border situation.
The program concluded with a solemn Oath-Taking Ceremony, where participants pledged to stay away from drugs and to actively spread awareness within their communities.
Amid the prevailing India-Pakistan tensions, such initiatives in border areas not only build community resilience but also inspire hope, positivity, and a collective commitment to a safer and drug-free society.
