KUPWARA, MARCH 17 – Employees working under the Jammu & Kashmir National Health Mission (NHM) have raised serious concerns over the non-payment of their salaries for the past two and a half months, causing severe financial distress.

Dr. Mukhtyar Parry, President of the NHM Employees Association (NHMEA), along with Muneer Andrabi, expressed frustration over the prolonged salary delays, emphasizing the significant mental and emotional toll on employees.

“Despite working tirelessly and dedicating ourselves to our duties, we have not been paid for over two and a half months. This delay is severely affecting our livelihoods, making it difficult for us to fulfill even basic needs,” Andrabi said.

The employees stated that they are still awaiting their pending salaries as the holy occasions of Shab-e-Qadr and Eid-ul-Fitr approach, adding to their distress.

Dr. Parry and Andrabi further warned that, if the issue is not addressed promptly, employees may be forced to take to the streets in protest.

The NHMEA pointed out that while the Government of India has already released funds for salary payments, NHM employees in Jammu and Kashmir have yet to receive their dues.

President NHMEA urged the J&K administration, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and the Health and Medical Education Minister to intervene immediately and ensure the timely disbursement of salaries.

In a strong appeal, Dr. Parry and Andrabi called on the authorities to take swift action to resolve the issue and prevent further hardships for NHM employees.
