Directs all concerned to ensure arrangements for seamless celebration of the day

BARAMULLA, JULY 13 – In anticipation of the Independence Day 2024, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa on Saturday convened a meeting of Officers from different departments at Dak Bungalow here to review the preparations for smooth celebrations of the national day across the district.

At the outset, the DC emphasized the significance of Independence Day and its importance in commemorating the nation’s freedom struggle. He underscored the need for meticulous planning and seamless execution of all arrangements to ensure a grand and memorable celebration.

During the meeting, it was informed that the main Independence Day function on 15th of August will be held at Showkat Ali Sports Stadium Baramulla, where the chief guest will unfurl the National Flag followed by inspection of parade.

The meeting held a comprehensive discussion on arrangements to be made at the venue for the National function, including security, seating, transportation, parking, electricity, refreshment, medicare, availability of ambulance, deployment of fire tenders and sanitation measures.

It was given out that the march-past will be presented by contingents of JKP, CRPF, Fire and Emergency, NCC cadets, School contingents and other bands which would be followed by a colorful cultural programme by students.

The Executive Officer, Municipal Council Baramulla was directed to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness of the main venue while the Health Department was asked to depute medical teams along with ambulances at the venue to meet any eventuality.

The DC also directed the Chief Education Officer to select the contingents and students from schools for the march past parade and for cultural performances.

Moreover, it was decided that a full dress rehearsal at the venue would be held on 13th of August and the DC impressed upon all the officers to work in close coordination and mutual coordination for smooth and successful conduct of I-Day celebrations.

Senior Superintendent of Police Baranulla, Amod Nagpure; Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Syed Qamar Sajad; Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr. Zahoor Ahmad Raina; Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, SDMs besides other officers of Civil, Police and CRPF were present in the meeting.
