SRINAGAR, NOV 23 – In a concerted effort to address the persistent challenges faced by residents in remote and isolated areas of the Kashmir Valley, concerning power availability, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, has directed officials to ensure improved power supply to these far-flung regions.

An official within the Divisional Kashmir office said that the directive is part of the ongoing administrative efforts to enhance the quality and consistency of power supply in areas that often face difficulties, particularly during the winter months.

The Divisional Commissioner has urged officials to submit regular detailed reports outlining the steps taken to guarantee adequate power supply to these remote areas.

“The government is actively taking measures to ameliorate power supply in the challenging winter months. Officials have been tasked with formulating and implementing strategies to meet the heightened power demands in these isolated areas,” said the officials.

“You need to devise strategies and implement initiatives to ensure that power generation, distribution, and infrastructure are optimized to cater to the specific needs of these remote areas,” emphasized the Divisional Commissioner.
Sources indicate that the Divisional Commissioner has also instructed officials to prepare a comprehensive contingency plan to address the increased power requirements during the winter season.
“This plan is crucial to ensuring that power supply remains uninterrupted despite the heavy load experienced during the winter months. To address the multifaceted challenges, officials have been directed to coordinate closely with various agencies involved in power supply. The Divisional Commissioner stressed the importance of maintaining a close liaison with the people on the ground to gather firsthand information about the challenges faced by them,”

“He asked officials to focus on areas of concern and keep rapid action teams ready and well-prepared to respond to damages in emergency situations,” sources added.
Top officials provided the Divisional Commissioner with updates on the present status of power supply and the steps being taken to improve and augment the power scenario, especially with an eye on the upcoming winter months.

The Divisional Commissioner also urged officials to mobilize staff to minimize downtime in the replacement of transformers during winters and directed the advance dumping of poles and conductors in areas that remain cut off during the winter months.

This comprehensive approach is geared towards ensuring a reliable and robust power supply to all consumers, particularly during the challenging winter season.
